Danish Acting Union – scalable WordPress site with a modular design system
The core goal was to enable the federation’s communications team to create and edit content themselves without compromising visual identity. We built a modular component system in WordPress (Gutenberg) so new content automatically adheres to the style guide. The site contains ~140 pages covering culture, benefits, regulations, statutes, events and more.
- Component library: flexible layout blocks (hero, cards, lists, facts, quotes, callouts, maps, tables) that can be freely combined—without breaking the design.
- Style built-in: typography, colour, spacing and imagery rules embedded in every component for consistency.
- Editor-friendly: locked templates where needed + freedom where valuable; clear fields and microcopy guidance.
- IA & findability: navigation, taxonomies and search so 140+ pages are easy to discover and maintain.
- Accessibility & performance: semantic HTML, contrast and keyboard support, lazy loading and optimised assets.
Deliverables
- Information architecture, wireframes, content model and editorial workflows
- Design system & UI components (Figma) → Gutenberg blocks
- WordPress development in HTML/SCSS/JavaScript + PHP
- News/events, taxonomies and enhanced site search
- Content migration, QA, documentation and editor training
Outcome
The editorial team can now publish quickly with a consistent look, while users experience a clear and fast site. The modular setup makes expansion easy—new sections are created by combining existing blocks and the style stays intact automatically.
